Project Director

Ruth Tincoff, Ph.D.

Thank you for your interest in the Parent and Baby Project! I am a professor in the Psychology department at The College of Idaho since 2017. My expertise is in the study of how we think, learn, communicate, and change through growth and experience.

My main research focus is on how babies understand spoken words before they can talk. I also study parents' important role in early language development. This research can help everyone better in the day-to-day work of caring for babies. It also helps nurses, doctors, and other health professionals who need to track healthy infant development. You and your baby can participate in a research study and add to this knowledge - your experience caring for your baby and growing together is important to us!

I am a parent to one child in elementary school and one in college; learning and growing with them and our community inspire my research and teaching. I look forward to learning from you and your baby!

Student assistants   work as a team to help make the Parent & Baby Project a success. During our activities we all play and learn together!

Past students have gone on to careers in education, communication disorders, social work, counseling, adoption services, research, finance, management, and human resources. Your activities with the Parent & Baby Project help students grow as professionals, caregivers, and community members.
